Tretinoin a trans derivative of Vitamin A is the key ingredient of A Ret Gel. It belongs to the class of retinoids. Retinoids are known to regulate the growth of epithelial cells. Retinoids decrease the oil production in the skin and also fights the bacteria and helps reducing acne and pimples. The retinoid also works by increasing the synthesis of new collagen in the body, it stimulates new blood vessels, giving skin a rosy appearance and also helps in reduction of spots. Tretinoin also provides a protection from the harmful UV light from the sun. Using tretinoin products along with alpha hydroxy acids provide smoothing effects to the skin.   

Medical Uses of the drug

A Ret Gel 0.1% is used for the treatment of 

  • Acne vulgaris – It is a common skin disease occurring at age of puberty in this due to activation sebaceous glands oil production increases and hence clogs the pore leading to acne.
  • Treat and Pimples – they are also known as spots or zits. They are a part of acne. They are also likely to occur at the age of puberty but can occur at other stages of life also. Pimple is a small pustule filled with pus which develops when the sebaceous gland becomes clogged with oil or gets infected
  • Wrinkles – these are the creases or folds appearing on the skin. The underlying reason for wrinkles is ageing or exposure to UV light from the sun

Working of a drug 

Tretinoin present in the A Ret Gel provides relief from acne, pimples, rough and patchy skin and other skin diseases. The gel exerts its action by interacting with retinoic acid (RAR) and retinoic X receptors (RXR) located in the nucleus of the cell. These receptors help in the production of procollagen and also blocks the release of inflammatory mediators. Retinoids also works by unclogging the blocked pores. They work along with other antibiotics and allow them to enter the pores and eradicate the bacteria causing acne breakout. Topically applied drug plays a role by further preventing the degradation of skin due to UV exposure.
