What is Pred Forte

Pred Forte eye drops contain a FDA-approved corticosteroid called Prednisolone Acetate as an active ingredient. They are used to treat Eye Inflammation triggered by eye surgery, foreign particles, certain allergies, chemical agents, or heat. Allergan, Inc. manufactures the product. 

1% of Prednisolone Acetate in the eye drop functions as a corticosteroid to block the inflammatory response in the ocular tissues (eye tissues). This helps reduce pain, swelling, and redness linked to the inflammatory condition. 

Uses of Pred Forte

Prednisolone Acetate eye drop is primarily used to treat Eye Inflammation and swelling caused by several conditions. It relieves inflammation of the cornea (the eye's outermost layer), the eye's anterior part, and the conjunctiva (the transparent, thin membrane covering the eyes' white part). 

It prevents inflammatory symptoms like itching, swelling, pain, watering, and redness. Prednisolone eye drops are administered to treat conditions like Scleritis, Iritis, Conjunctivitis, Uveitis, Keratitis, and Episcleritis (inflammation of the sclera, iris, conjunctiva, uvea, cornea, and episclera, respectively).

It is also used to manage post-operative inflammation of the eyes or to treat chronic allergies.

• Scleral or Corneal Thinning: Anti-inflammatory eye drops like Pred Forte can increase the chances of perforation in individuals with scleral and corneal thinning. 

Food interactions

There are no known interactions of this eye drop with any drink or food as it is administered topically into the eye. No meal adjustments required. 

Precautions

The following precautions must be considered before taking Pred Forte eye drops:

• Avoid using it for a long time as it can increase intraocular pressure, resulting in Glaucoma, and also can cause Cataracts
