Working of the drug

It binds to the Glutamate-gated Chloride ion channels found in nerve and muscle cells of invertebrates. 

This binding increases chloride ion inflow and induces nerve cell hyperpolarization (blocking action potential), leading to parasite paralysis and eventual death.
